The quickest route: open your Google Play subscriptions page, or in the Play Store app tap your profile picture and go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Make sure you’re signed in with the account that made the purchase.

Start with the right Google account

Many people have an older or work address alongside their personal account. The subscriptions page only shows purchases made with the account currently selected. If an entry you expect is missing, switch accounts and check again. For each plan you find, note the amount, how often you’re billed and the next payment date.

Your phone shows apps, not a complete payment history. A service can sell its subscription on its own website and take card or PayPal payments. The app then runs on Android while Google Play has nothing to do with the contract. The payment receipt tells you who to contact to cancel.

Why uninstalling is not cancelling

Google is explicit: uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription, and switching phones doesn’t either. Instead, open the subscriptions page, select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts. Check the status shown afterwards and keep the confirmation.

After a normal cancellation you keep access for the period you’ve already paid for, and no renewal follows. That is not a refund. If a plan involves several agreed payments, more of them may still be due; read the terms of that specific plan.

Pausing instead of cancelling

Some apps let you pause through Google Play. If the option is there, select the subscription, tap Manage, then Pause payments, set the period and confirm. The pause starts when the current billing period ends and, depending on the app, lasts from one week to three months. Note the date it resumes rather than treating the service as finished. The guide to pausing or cancelling a subscription covers what to check first.

Fill the gaps in the Play Store list

Compare your Play subscriptions with your bank statements and email. A missing entry may sit on another Google account, or be billed directly by the service, your mobile operator or Apple. Work through the checklist for finding all your subscriptions before you treat your list as complete.

If you also use Apple services, the iPhone guide shows what the Apple list contains and how to check Purchase History.

Common questions

I deleted the app. Is the subscription cancelled?

No. Google says that uninstalling an app does not cancel a subscription bought through Google Play. Open the subscription in Google Play and cancel it there if you don't want another renewal.

Why can't I see my subscription in Google Play?

Switch to your other Google accounts first. If it isn't on any of them, check the receipt and your bank statement: the provider, Apple or your mobile operator may be billing it instead.

Do I get the last payment back when I cancel?

A normal cancellation stops the renewal; Google says you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. A refund is a separate process with its own rules.
