How to find subscriptions on iPhone: 3 steps
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
This list covers Apple’s own services and subscriptions you started through the App Store. Tap an entry to see the plan and the renewal date; that is where the Cancel Subscription button is (you may need to scroll down).
Subscriptions and payments are two different lists
The Subscriptions screen manages active and recently cancelled Apple subscriptions. To match a specific charge, open Purchase History as well: in the App Store, tap your photo or initials, then Apps & Purchase History, then Purchase History. You can see the same list on the web at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Purchase History opens on Last 90 days. Tap that label to choose another period; an annual plan won’t appear in the default view. Compare the amount and the date with your bank statement. Purchase History is a record of Apple purchases, not of every payment on your card.
When a subscription you pay for is missing
Search your email for “Your receipt from Apple”. The receipt names the Apple Account that made the purchase. If you use more than one account, sign in to the right one. If the receipt shows a family member’s account, that person has to cancel. If there is no Apple receipt at all, another company is billing you, and the name on your statement points you to it.
Many apps on your iPhone also sell subscriptions on their own websites. Those don’t appear in Apple’s list. Check PayPal, your phone bill and your email too. The full order of checks is in How to find all your subscriptions.
How to cancel on iPhone
In Subscriptions, tap the entry, then tap Cancel Subscription; you may need to scroll down to see it. If the button isn’t there, or Apple shows an expiry date in red, the subscription is already cancelled. Keep the confirmation and note the end date shown.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you normally keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Apple notes that cancellation works differently in a few countries, and links a separate page for them. If you signed up for a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends if you don’t want it to renew.
On a Mac or iPad
iPad: the same as on iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Mac: in the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again on the next page, then click Subscriptions. Choose the subscription and click Cancel Subscription.
How to get a refund for an Apple subscription
If you paid for a subscription you didn’t want, you can ask Apple for a refund: sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com, tap or click I’d like to, then choose Request a refund. Pick the reason, choose Next, select the subscription and choose Submit. Expect an update within 24 to 48 hours; Apple decides whether the refund is granted.
If the charge is still pending, you can’t request a refund yet. Wait for the e-mail receipt and try again. The guide to apple.com/bill charges helps when you don’t know what a payment was for.
After the iPhone check
If several people use the same Apple services, check which subscriptions can be shared with your family before paying for separate plans.
If you also use a Google account, check subscriptions on Android and Google Play. Then compare the total with the guide to what your subscriptions cost per year. Use the amount you were actually charged, not the service’s current list price.
Common questions
Why can't I see a subscription on my iPhone?
Check whether you bought it with a different Apple Account or directly from the provider. Search your email for an Apple receipt; it names the account used. With no Apple receipt, your bank or card statement shows which company is charging you.
Does deleting the app cancel the subscription?
No. For a subscription billed by Apple, you stop the renewal in the Subscriptions list of your Apple Account. For a subscription bought from the provider directly, use the provider's own cancellation route.
When should I cancel a free trial?
Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you don't want it to renew. Note the end date when you start the trial.
